E-Mini S&P 500 Futures Market News and Commentary
The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) this morning is down -0.31%, the Dow Jones Industrials Index ($DOWI) is down -0.37%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) is down -0.42%.
U.S stock indexes this morning are moderately lower. Negative carry-over from a -2.49% plunge in China’s Shanghai Composite Stock Index today to a 3-1/2 month low is weighing on global equity markets. Chinese stocks tumbled for the third session as the Chinese government’s regulatory crackdown widens to other sectors of the economy. The worsening pandemic is another negative factor for stocks. Today’s U.S. economic data was mixed and had a limited impact on stock prices.
Sep T-notes (ZNU21) this morning are up +8 ticks, and the 10-year T-note yield is down -5.7 bp at 1.233%. T-notes are moving higher today on increased safe-haven demand as a plunge in Chinese stocks undercut other global bourses.
