Most Active pages spotlight stocks that show significant movement in regards to the volume of trading activity: Volume Leaders, Price Volume Leaders, Volume Advances, and Trading Liquidity. Each page allows you to fine-tune the stocks shown by exchange. Additionally, some of the pages allow you to filter stocks by market cap or price.
Volume Leaders lists the stocks with the greatest volume for the day.
Price Volume Leaders
Price Volume Leaders lists stocks in order of price volume ratio. Price volume is simply the price multiplied by the volume; the numbers are listed in thousands.
Price Volume Leaders provide an insight to the most significant stocks based on the value of the shares traded, as opposed to Volume Leaders which only takes into account the number of shares traded. For example, 1 million shares traded at $2 has a value of $2M (found on the Volume Leaders page) where 100,000 shares traded at $100 has a value of $10M (found on the Price Volume page). Many market analysts would consider Price Volume to be more relevant.
"Volume Percent Advance" is today's Volume divided by the 20-Day Average Volume. Stocks are listed in descending order of the Volume Percent Advance on this page.
This page ranks stocks by Trading Liquidity (a ratio defined as 100-Day Average Volume divided by Shares Outstanding). Trading Liquidity provides an indication of what percentage of Shares Outstanding turns over each day. Barchart uses a long-term 100-Day Average Volume in its calculation to ensure that stocks presented in the report are consistently high-volume stocks, rather than stocks whose trading volume was high for a short period of time.
To be included in the Trading Liquidity page, a stock has to have Shares Outstanding greater than 10,000K (10 million shares), have a 100-Day Average Volume greater than 100,000 shares, and have Today's Volume greater than 10,000 shares.
For U.S. Markets: The initial page displayed is for "All US Exchanges" (includes only NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ stocks, and does not include ETFs, unit investment trusts, closed end funds, warrant stocks, preferred securities and any non-SIC classified stock).
To be included in the Most Active pages, a stock has to be trading between $2 and $10,000. OTCBB stocks have to be trading above $0.25 and have a (daily volume * last price) above 10,000. The Trading Liquidity page has its own set of conditions (see above.)
The Most Active pages uses the current session's data, with the list of stocks being updated every 10 minutes throughout the trading day. You will see new price data appear on the page as indicated by a "flash". However, new stocks are not automatically added to or re-ranked on the page until the site performs its 10-minute update.
Additional filtering based on Market Cap and Price are available on certain pages for U.S. and Canadian Markets. For the U.S. Market, the Price listings are limited to stocks trading on the NYSE, AMEX and Nasdaq exchanges, and does not include ETFs, unit investment trusts, closed end funds, warrant stocks, preferred securities and any non-SIC classified stock.

Barchart Data Table
Data tables on Barchart follow a familiar format to view and access extensive information for the symbols in the table.
Pages are initially sorted in a specific order (depending on the data presented). You can re-sort the page by clicking on any of the column headings in the table.
Most data tables can be analyzed using "Views." A View simply presents the symbols on the page with a different set of columns. Site members can also display the page using Custom Views. (Simply create a free account, log in. then create and save Custom Views to be used on any data table.)
Each View has a "Links" column on the far right to access a symbol's Quote Overview, Chart, Options Quotes (when available), Barchart Opinion, and Technical Analysis page. Standard Views found throughout the site include:

Data Table Expand
Unique to Barchart.com, data tables contain an "expand" option. Click the "+" icon in the first column (on the left) to "expand" the table for the selected symbol. Scroll through widgets of the different content available for the symbol. Click on any of the widgets to go to the full page.
Horizontal Scroll on Wide Tables
Especially when using a custom view, you may find that the number of columns chosen exceeds the available space to show all the data. In this case, the table must be horizontally scrolled (left to right) to view all of the information. To do this, you can either scroll to the bottom of the table and use the table's scrollbar, or you can scroll the table using your browser's built-in scroll:
- Left-click with your mouse anywhere on the table.
- Use your keyboard's left and right arrows to scroll the table.
- Repeat this anywhere as you move through the table to enable horizontal scrolling.
Also unique to Barchart, FlipCharts allow you to scroll through all the symbols on the table in a chart view. While viewing FlipCharts, you can apply a custom Chart Template, further customizing the way you can analyze the symbols. FlipCharts are a free tool available to Site Members.
Download is a free tool available to Site Members. This tool will download a .csv file for the View being displayed. For dynamically-generated tables (such as a Stock or ETF Screener) where you see more than 1000 rows of data, the download will be limited to only the first 1000 records on the table. For other static pages (such as the Russell 3000 Components list) all rows will be downloaded.
Free members are limited to 10 downloads per day, while Barchart Premier Members may download up to 100 .csv files per day.
Should you require more than 50 downloads per day, please contact Barchart Sales at 866-333-7587 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or additional options about historical market data.
