2 Dashboard is a one-page solution for viewing symbols you've identified as being of interest. It provides full-sized, streaming charts with high-level research tools for symbols saved to your Watchlists, and Portfolios, and from a number of other Major Markets pages.
Dashboard is available on a desktop computer or tablet. It opens in a new browser window allowing you to keep the Barchart.com website open in another window to research and monitor other market developments.
To take full advantage of Dashboard's capabilities (streaming data, charts that remember and save your actions), you will need to login to the site using either your free membership, or your Barchart Premier subscription.
Note: For detailed help on how to use Interactive Charts or Snapshot charts, please refer to these help topics:
Blue Navigation Bar
A blue navigational bar is fixed to the right side of Dashboard. Use the links on the blue bar to open different lists of symbols (called "Controllers"), allowing you to view full-sized charts for the group of symbols found in the Controller.
Example: The Watchlist Controller will let you access every Watchlist you've created so you can flip through full-sized charts for every symbol in your Watchlist.
Using the Blue Navigation Bar
At the top of the bar, a Menu icon is provided for access to other areas on the website. The bar is then divided into 4 sections, containing links or "buttons" that are clickable:
- My Lists
- Markets - view charts from Major Market Indices, Stock Market Leaders (the top Price Volume Leaders), Major Commodities (commodities listed on the Futures Market Overview page), Forex Pairs (contracts listed on the Forex Market Overview page), and Major ETFs (symbols listed on the ETFs Market Overview page), and popular Cryptocurrency Pairs.

Open / Close Controller Lists
Open one of the Controller lists by clicking on the Markets, Watchlists, Portfolios, or My Charts buttons in the blue bar. In the image below, the Markets Controller was opened to the Stock Market Leaders list. To close the Controller, click the X, or click the button in the blue navigation bar.

Using the Controller
Once a Controller is open, you must click on the symbol you wish to display from the list. The selected symbol is highlighted in blue in the Controller, and the chart displays. Desktop users may use their keyboard up and down arrows to navigate the Controller list and change the symbol, or just click again on any symbol you see in the Controller to change the chart.
![Display the chart for a different symbol in the Controller]()
You may also use the Symbol box on the top left of the chart to enter any symbol you choose. Doing so will close the Controller to give you maximum room to view your chart.0
Using the Controller "Flipchart Ribbon"
Once you select a symbol from the Controller, a "Flipcharts Ribbon" is displayed at the top of Dashboard. This presents an alternate way to move through the symbols in the opened Controller. Click on the symbol you wish to display from the ribbon (desktop users may use their keyboard right/left arrows to change the symbol). You'll notice the Flipcharts ribbon and the Controller keep the symbol "in sync" as you move through the list.

"Multi-Charts" on the Flipchart Ribbon
Barchart Premier Members have an additional way to view the symbols from the Flipchart Ribbon. When you click the "Multi-Chart" button, you can select a 2 or 4-chart grid. Dashboard will then show groups of 2 or 4 charts from the Flipcharts Ribbon, vs. 1 chart at a time. When in Multi-Chart mode, you set the timeframe and the bar type to use for all the charts shown in the selected group.
![Multi-Charts]()
Multi-Charts is available only when your Premier account is set to use Interactive Charts as your preferred chart type. Your chart type is set in your Site Preferences page.
Resizing the Controller
With the Controller open, you can resize the Chart container and Controller container areas. Use the vertical bar that separates the Controller from the Chart to drag and drop to new positions. You may also resize the News container (under the Controller list) if desired.
Dashboard remembers your last-viewed Controller/container sizes, so when you open Dashboard the next day, you are brought to the point where you left the application.
The Chart
The left portion of the Dashboard is the area where your full-sized chart appears. You will see either an Interactive or a Snapshot Chart (depending on your Site Preferences). Each chart is fully customizable using the Quick Chart links, chart templates, or by adjusting the individual chart settings.
Streaming Chart Updates
For Interactive Chart Users: When the market is in session, the Dashboard chart will automatically stream new price data into the chart. This represents one of the major advantages of using Dashboard over the chart pages found on the website.
For U.S. equities, you may also select either streaming real-time Cboe BZX prices or streaming delayed data for the chart. This option is found in the chart Settings / Display menu. For all other types of symbols (international equities, futures, forex), the chart will also stream new updates automatically, but the data is delayed, per exchange rules.
In addition, Barchart automatically saves the tools you apply to each chart, such as trend lines and annotations, when you are logged into your account.
IMPORTANT: Streaming, real-time Cboe BZX data for U.S. equities, streaming delayed data, and chart tools are not available with Snapshot Charts. Change your default chart type to Interactive Charts in your Site Preferences to take full advantage of Dashboard's features.
For Snapshot Chart Users: You will always see a static delayed data chart.
Grid Charts
Barchart Premier Members can view the same symbol using different time periods, using a 2 or 4-chart grid. Click the "Grid View" button and select the desired layout. Once the grid is displayed, select a time period for each chart on the grid.
You may change the bar type for all the charts, and add up to three custom studies to apply to each chart. Your grid preference is remembered for the next time you use it on the Interactive Chart page, on a popout chart, or in Dashboard.
Chart Actions
With a chart loaded into Dashboard, you have a number of actions available for that chart. Right-click on the chart to see these options, or use the links found in the blue navigation bar:
![Symbol and Chart Actions]()
- More Data - open a series of widgets for the current symbol you are viewing, providing additional quote, performance, fundamental, and key statistics data.

My Charts
My Charts (a Barchart Premier feature) is your personal portfolio of custom charts that you've saved. Each chart can be saved into a Chart Group, for easy retrieval at any time.
Unlike FlipCharts on a normal Watchlist or Portfolio, My Charts lets you save multiple charts for the same symbol. For example, you may save five charts for the same symbol, each with different trend lines and aggregations. Or, save multiple Corn futures spread charts for your ongoing analysis.
My Charts are placed into a Group. Chart Groups are created in the My Barchart tab, under "Organize My Charts."
Save a Chart to My Charts
- Use Dashboard to set up a chart you want to save.
- Save the chart to My Charts by either clicking on the blue navigation button for "Save to My Charts" or by opening the symbol menu:
![Save to My Charts]()
- Give the chart a name, and select the Chart Group to save it in:
![Save to My Charts]()
- The saved chart is now opened in the My Charts controller:
![Saved Chart]()
- When in the My Charts controller, any additional changes you make to this chart are automatically saved for you. There is no need to save it again.
Managing My Charts
Once you save a chart, there are additional commands you can access using the "Links" menu by the saved chart's name:
![Actions Menu for a Saved Chart]()
- Delete Chart - this removes the saved chart from your account.
- Rename Chart - allows you to enter a new name for the saved chart
- Copy Chart - creates an exact duplicate of the saved chart. You will be asked to enter a new chart name and select the chart Group to place it in.
The Action menu for a saved chart also contains the other commands available for all charts in Dashboard:
- More Data - open a series of widgets for the current symbol you are viewing, providing additional quote, performance, fundamental, and key statistics data.
- Add to Watchlist - add the current symbol you are viewing to any of your Watchlists.
- Set Alert - create an alert for the current symbol you are viewing.
