Stocks Fall as AI Concerns Dampen Market Sentiment

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) today is down -0.57%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) is down -0.25%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) is down -1.10%. March E-mini S&P futures (ESH26) are down -0.62%, and March E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQH26) are down -1.05%.

Stock indexes are falling today, with the Nasdaq 100 posting a 2.75-month low. Losses in AI-infrastructure firms and the megacap Magnificent Seven technology stocks are weighing on the broader market. Risk-off sentiment is weighing on stocks amid concerns that the payout from elevated capital spending by tech companies on artificial intelligence will come anytime soon. Also, concerns have surfaced that the latest tools released by Google, Anthropic, and other AI startups are already good enough to disrupt many sectors of the economy, including finance, logistics, software, and trucking.
