Soybean futures posted gains of 8 to 16 cents per bushel today. Soybean meal was up $7.00 to support product value, while soy oil was fractionally lower. Weekly soybean export inspections were down 14.3% from last week, but still up 7.4% vs. the same week last year. Export inspections for the first quarter were 151 million bushels larger than last year. Informa expects Argentine soybean production will be 1 MMT smaller than USDA's November figure, at 56 MMT. Crusher association ABIOVE raised projected Brazilian production to 101.4 MMT, and hiked their estimate of Brazilian exports to 57 MMT for 2016/17. They cut old crop soybean production by 500,000 MT to 96.1 MMT. Jan 17 Soybeans closed at $10.43 1/2, up 16 cents, Mar 17 Soybeans closed at $10.53 1/4, up 16 cents, May 17 Soybeans closed at $10.59 3/4, up 15 1/4 cents, Jul 17 Soybeans closed at $10.64 1/2, up 15 1/4 cents, Dec 16 Soybean Meal closed at $317.70, up $7.00, Dec 16 Soybean Oil closed at $37.49, down $0.02
