Wheat Futures Market News and Commentary

Wheat Markets Faded into the Close

Going home on Thursday, domestic wheat markets were mixed. Winter wheat SRW and HRW futures were red at the bell, though spring wheat held 3 1/4 to 5 cent gains into the close. SRW gave back 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 cents in the front months, with new crop a 9 cent discount. HRW prices closed 3 1/2 to 4 1/4 cents weaker, though new crop was a nickel premium to spot March contracts. 

Going into the weekly Export Sales report, traders surveyed estimate wheat bookings from the week that ended 1/13 were between 175,000 and 400,000 MT. New crop wheat sales are estimated below 50k MT.

Mar 22 CBOT Wheat  closed at $7.90 1/4, down 6 1/4 cents,

Cash SRW Wheat  was $7.50 5/8, down 6 3/8 cents,

Mar 22 KCBT Wheat  closed at $7.96 1/2, down 3 1/2 cents,

Cash HRW Wheat  was $7.78 1/8, down 3 1/2 cents,

Mar 22 MGEX Wheat  closed at $9.44 3/4, up 5 cents,
