30-Year T-Bond Futures Market News and Commentary

Stocks Stabilize as Crude Oil Prices and Bond Yields Ease

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) is up by +0.16% today, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) is up by +0.42%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) is down by -0.20%.  E-mini S&P futures (ESU26) are up +0.10%, and September E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQU26) are down -0.25%.

Stock index futures recovered from overnight losses and are mostly higher today as a retreat in crude oil prices knocked bond yields lower. Crude oil prices gave up an overnight advance and turned lower today when US Energy Secretary Wright said that over 17 million bbl of oil went through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, easing supply concerns.  That knocked the 10-year T-note yield down -1 bp to 4.79%, benefiting stocks.  Bond yields also remained lower after the Aug ADP employment change rose less than expected.

Stock index futures initially moved lower in overnight trade as US-Iran hostilities pushed crude oil prices to a 6-week high and the 10-year T-note yield up to a 2.75-year high of 4.82%... Read more
