Soybean Futures Market News and Commentary

Soybeans Hold onto Thursday Gains

Soybeans closed Thursday with contracts up 1 to 2 ¼ cents on the day. The cmdtyView national average Cash Bean price is up 2 3/4 cents at $12.32 1/2. Soymeal futures were steady to $1.60 higher on the day, with Soy Oil back up 32 to 80 points.

Following reports that the EPA was looking to approve additional small refinery exemptions this week, Reuters reported that the White House is contemplating an increase of quotas for 2027 by 500 million gallons to offset the higher than originally thought exemptions. Nothing has been officially announced by the administration.

The weekly Export Sales report showed 73,913 MT of 2025/26 soybean sales during the week of 8/20. That was a 3-week low as we approach the end of the marketing year. Egypt was the largest buyer of 105,000 MT, with 66,300 MT sold to Indonesia, as Unknown buyers cancelled 169,500 MT, with most switched to a buyer.
