Soybean Futures Market News and Commentary

Beans Continue Gains through Midday

So far soybeans are continuing the rally from Tuesday. Front month futures are 6 1/4 to 9 cents higher at midday with Nov the strongest. Meal futures are also trading in the black at midday with $1.90 to $2.10/ton gains. Soybean oil futures are up by 35 points in the front months. USDA’s mandatory reporting system showed private exporters sold 522,000 MT of beans to China (split 25/75 old and new crop delivery), and 351,000 MT of soybeans to unknown (split 20/80 old and new crop delivery). The weekly Export Sales report had 19/20 bean sales at 312,950 MT for the week ending July 9. That was on the low end of estimates, and down 68% wk/wk. The weekly data has unshipped sales at 7.967 MMT. With shipments at 38.34 MMT, accumulated commitments are at 1.701 bbu. That is 3.1% above the WASDE forecast, compared to last year when commitments were 5.2% above the WASDE. NMY bean sales added 767,596 MT to the accumulated 1.081 MMT.
