Live cattle futures settled 12 to 85 cents lower. Feeders were also $.37 to $1.07 lower, with January at $126.60. The CME Feeder Index for 12/7 was $131.07, a 33 cent loss. Average wholesale beef prices reported by USDA were mixed on moderate demand and packer offerings. Choice boxes were on average 54 cents higher, while Select product was down 30 cents per hundred. A few cash cattle have traded at $112, with $170 reported in the north. The latter would be down $5 from last week but may not be representative. Weekly USDA export sales for 2016 were 4,519 MT and 2017 sales were reported at 10,915 MT. The combined total was down 14.6% vs. the previous week. Dec 16 Cattle closed at $109.050, down $0.325, Feb 17 Cattle closed at $110.650, down $0.125, Apr 17 Cattle closed at $110.425, down $0.375, Jan 17 Feeder Cattle closed at $126.600, down $0.375 Mar 17 Feeder Cattle closed at $123.150, down $0.650 Apr 17 Feeder Cattle closed at $122.725, down $0.825
