Coffee Prices Rebound as Dollar Weakness Spurs Short Covering

July arabica coffee (KCN25) Friday closed up +0.25 (+0.07%), and July ICE robusta coffee (RMN25) closed up +3 (+0.06%).

Coffee prices on Friday recovered from early losses and closed slightly higher.  Short covering emerged in coffee futures Friday after the dollar index (DXY00) sank to a 3-week low.

Coffee prices initially moved lower on Friday, with arabica posting a 5-week low and robusta posting a 6-week low.   An increase in ICE coffee inventories weighed on prices.  ICE-monitored robusta coffee inventories rose to an 8-month high Friday of 5,438 lots.  Also, ICE-monitored arabica coffee inventories rose to a 3-3/4 month high Friday of 886,590 bags.

Coffee prices have been under pressure over the past three weeks on the outlook for higher coffee production and ample supplies.  On Monday, the USDA's Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS) forecast that Brazil's 2025/26 coffee production will climb +0.5% y/y to 65 million bags and that Vietnam's 2025/26 coffee output...
