Stocks Climb on Q2 Earnings Optimism and Improved Prospects for an Infrastructure Package

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) this morning is up +0.54%, the Dow Jones Industrials Index ($DOWI) is up +0.45%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) is up +0.49%.

U.S stock indexes this morning are posting moderate gains and are just below their recent all-time highs. Stocks are climbing today on optimism about Q2 corporate earnings results.  Stocks are also garnering support from the improved prospects that the Senate will pass the $550 billion infrastructure package later this week.

Sep T-notes (ZNU21) this morning are up +12 ticks at a 1-1/2 week high, and the 10-year T-note yield fell to a 1-1/2 week low of 1.182%.   Concerns about global economic growth gave T-notes a boost after the China July manufacturing PMI fell -0.5 to 50.4, weaker than expectations of 50.8 and the slowest pace of expansion in 1-1/2 years.  T-notes maintained their gains this morning after the U.S. July ISM manufacturing index unexpectedly fell -1.1 to a 6-month low of 59.5.
