Lean hog futures are up another nickel to $1.60 as the nearby months continue to gain on the deferred contracts. USDA’s National Average Base Hog price was $5.82 stronger to $123.31. The CME Lean Hog Index was up 74 cents on 7/15.
Pork cutout futures are trading 30 cents to $2.15 higher, also led by the nearby fall contracts. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout Value for Tuesday afternoon was up another $3.16 to $125.12. USDA’s estimated the FI hog slaughter at 460,000 head for Tuesday. That set the week’s kill at 909k head, compared to 926k head during the same week last year.
