Lean hog futures are 15 cents higher in October, but 5 to 45 cents weaker in the other nearby futures. USDA reported the National Average Base Hog price 70 cents weaker on Wednesday morning to $99.38. The CME Lean Hog Index increased another $1.36 to $97.43 for 7/6. Â
Pork cutout futures closed with triple digit gains of as much as $3.42. The Pork Carcass Cutout Value was quoted at $109.02 in the AM report, down by $2.97. The bellies backed off by $17.76 to $149.67. Federally inspected hog slaughter was estimated at 470k head for Tuesday. After revising Monday’s kill lower, that set the week’s running total at 930k head. Â
