Nasdaq 100 E-Mini Futures Market News and Commentary
The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) on Friday closed up +0.48%, the Dow Jones Industrials Index ($DOWI) closed down -0.07%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) closed up +1.47%.
U.S. stock indexes on Friday opened lower but recovered most of their losses and settled higher. Stocks on Friday opened lower on high U.S./China tensions along with weaker-than-expected U.S. economic data. However, stocks came roaring back Friday afternoon when President Trump announced retaliation against China for its actions on the coronavirus pandemic and Hong Kong by saying the U.S. will withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO) and will eliminate policies that give Hong Kong preferential treatment, although he did not institute sanctions on Chinese officials as had been anticipated.
