Front month lean hog futures were $0.70 to $1.17 higher at the closing bell for the first trade day of the week. Feb contracts settled more than $1 off their session high. The increasingly thin Dec contract dropped by 55 cents. The National Average Base Hog price was 7 cents weaker in the PM quote on Monday at $55.53. The 11/30 CME Lean Hog Index was down by 77 cents to $70.58.Â
Monday’s National Pork Carcass Cutout Value was $84.43, up by 88 cents. Monday’s FI hog slaughter was marked at 488,000 head. That is up from 476k last week and was 2k head more than the same week last year.Â
