Live cattle futures are selling off again today, down $1.25 to $2.30 despite the strong cash cattle market this week. Today is options expiration day for December futures, with the 108 and 110 strike prices in play. Feeders are $2.55 to $2.85 lower. The CME Feeder Index for 11/30 was $130.51, up $1.33. January futures are only trading around $125 at midday. Cash cattle trade on Thursday was reported with prices for >80% choice between $112 and $113 with the weighted average for all grades $112.12. Dressed sales picked up and logged a weighted average (for all grades) of $174.97. Wholesale beef prices were mixed this morning, with choice boxes averaging 22 cents lower, while select product was up 66 cents. Dec 16 Cattle are at $108.950, down $1.625, Feb 17 Cattle are at $109.350, down $2.025, Apr 17 Cattle are at $109.475, down $1.750, Jan 17 Feeder Cattle are at $125.225, down $2.550 Mar 17 Feeder Cattle are at $121.875, down $2.375 Apr 17 Feeder Cattle are at $121.600, down $2.425
