Live cattle futures are showing triple digit gains at midday. Feeders are also sharply higher with the Jan17 contract at $125.725, while the CME Feeder Index for 12/2 was $131.24, another 20 cents higher. Cash cattle trade was limited without enough sales for a market trend. Steer prices on Friday ranged from $112 to $114, with IA/MN the weakest. Wholesale beef prices in the morning USDA report were higher again with Choice up 24 cents and Select up 25 cents at $191.63 and $173.48 respectively. Estimated Monday FI slaughter at 115,000 head would be up 1,000 from last week and up 4,000 from year ago. Dec 16 Cattle are at $109.250, up $1.425, Feb 17 Cattle are at $110.450, up $1.475, Apr 17 Cattle are at $110.500, up $1.525, Jan 17 Feeder Cattle are at $125.725, up $1.400 Mar 17 Feeder Cattle are at $122.800, up $1.425 Apr 17 Feeder Cattle are at $122.475, up $1.400
