
Front month lean hog futures are trading 45 to 67 cents in the black on Tuesday follow through from Monday gains. The USDA National Average Base Hog price for Tuesday morning was 27 cents firmer to $121.28. The CME Lean Hog Index from 8/18 was another 31 cents weaker to $120.29.
Pork cutout futures are mixed on the board with October 25 cents weaker and December 42 cents in the black. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout value dropped $11.14 in the AM report to $106.47. Federally inspected hog slaughter was estimated at 478k head for Monday. That was up 36k head wk/wk and was 39k head more than the same Monday last year.
