
April and May hogs are red through midday on 22 to 80 cent losses. October is also trading weaker. The summer months are in the black, with gains from 12 cents to $1.02. The National Average Base Hog price for Monday morning was $100.65, up by $1.72. Friday had dropped by $4.26 to $101.57. The 3/9 CME Lean Hog Index was up by 65 cents to $99.91.
Pork cutout futures are also mixed, with the nearby futures red and deferred months gaining. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout Value was $5.84 stronger in the AM report to $108.39. USDA estimated the week’s FI hog slaughter at 2.475m head through Saturday.
