
Midday hog futures are mostly lower following Tuesday’s strength. Losses are limited to 40 cents so far, with May up by 17 cents. USDA’s National Average Base Hog price for Wednesday morning was $77.42, down by $1.01. The CME Lean Hog Index was $78.60 on 12/26, down by 14 cents.
Pork cutout futures are UNCH on light volume and OI through midday. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout value for Wednesday morning was 8 cents lower to $90.84. Federally inspected hog slaughter was 509k head through Tuesday, as Monday was light in recognition of the holiday.
