Lean hog futures ended the day with $0.37 to $2.10 loses across the front months. For Feb that was the lowest seen since 10/13. The National Average Base Hog price for Thursday afternoon was $81.11 after a $3.57 drop. The 12/06 CME Lean Hog Index was $82.78, down 16 cents.Â
Pork export bookings in the week that ended on 12/1 were tallied at a net reduction of 7,919 MT, a MY low. The cancellations were mainly Japan, Australia, South Korea, and Canada. Shipments were 9.4% larger than last week at 32,517 MT, for a YTD total of 1.375 MMT.Â
Pork cutout prices ended with $0.92 to $1.95 losses. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout value was delayed this afternoon. USDA estimates the week’s FI hog slaughter at 1.948m head for the week through Thursday. That is down 18k head from last week’s pace.Â
