The lean hog market continued to work higher through the Thursday session, save for the Dec contract which gave back 60 cents. The other nearbys added 5 to 12 cents to the move. The USDA National Average Base Hog Price was down by $2.88 to $83.27 in the Thursday report. The 11/15 CME Lean Hog Index was $88.22, down by 31 cents. Â Â
Pork cutout prices closed up by 22 cents to 45 cents past the Dec which was down by 40 cents on the day. USDA’s Pork Carcass Cutout Value was $1 weaker to $92.63. The federally inspected hog slaughter was 1.961m head for the week through Thursday. That is up 10k head from last week’s pace.Â
