Front month live cattle futures are trading 10 to 60 cents higher past the December contract. Dec fats are up by $1.15. Feeders are gaining 12 to 57 cents through the midday portion of Monday. Last week’s cash price was mostly near $150 in the South and mostly near $153 in the North with $242 in the beef. The CME Feeder Cattle Index from 11/03 was down by 64 cents to $176.99.
Wholesale Boxed Beef prices firmed up on Monday morning with a 59c increase in Choice to $264.34 and a $1.94 increase in Select to $233.84. USDA estimated the week’s FI cattle slaughter at 667k head – down 1k head from the week prior but 15k head above the same week last year.
