Midday hog futures are up $1.20 to $2.65 so far for Thursday. The USDA National Average Base Hog price for the Thursday AM report was $2.03 weaker to $94.99. The CME Lean Hog Index was another 62 cents weaker on 9/12 at $97.67.Â
USDA reported 25,067 MT of pork was sold during the week that ended 9/8. Accumulated shipments reached 1.018 MMT as of 9/8.Â
Pork cutout futures are trading triple digits higher so far as well, with $1.02 to $1.92 stronger. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout value was 71 cents weaker to $106.17. USDA estimated the federally inspected hog slaughter at 1.435m head for the week through Wednesday, compared to 1.423m head last year. Â
