
October’s triple digit loss pulled the other contracts lower on Wednesday afternoon as prices went home 12 to 40 cents lower. October ended the day $1.05 in the red. The USDA National Average Base Hog price was $1.15 weaker on Wednesday to $98.26. The CME Lean Hog Index was another 62 cents weaker on 9/12 at $97.67.
Pork cutout futures closed with 27 cent losses on Wednesday past the October contract’s $1.37 drop. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout value up $2.11 to $106.88 on Wednesday afternoon. USDA estimated the federally inspected hog slaughter at 1.435m head for the week through Wednesday, compared to 1.423m head last year.
