
Lean hog prices rallied $0.95 to $3.87 on Tuesday, led by the October contract. October had gotten to $96.07 at the high for the day (+$4). The USDA National Average Base Hog price was up $9.98 on Tuesday afternoon to $99.41. The 9/8 CME Lean Hog Index was $99.57, after another 69 cent drop.
Pork cutout futures went home on Tuesday with $0.95 to $2.87 gains. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout value was 94 cents lower in the PM report at $104.77. USDA estimated Tuesday’s FI hog slaughter at 476k head. The WTD pace was 951k head, matching last year.
