Arabica Coffee 4/5 Futures Market News and Commentary

Coffee Prices Fall on Expectations for a Record Brazil Coffee Crop

May arabica coffee (KCK26) on Friday closed down -5.95 (-1.93%), and May ICE robusta coffee (RMK26) closed down -3 (-0.08%).

Coffee prices settled lower on Friday amid expectations of a record Brazilian coffee crop.  Marex Group Plc on Thursday projected a record 2026/27 Brazil coffee crop of 75.9 million bags, even higher than last week's forecast from Sucafina of 75.4 million bags, up +15.5% y/y.  Earlier this month, StoneX raised its Brazil 2026/27 coffee production estimate to a record 75.3 million bags, up from a November estimate of 70.7 million bags.

However, losses in robusta coffee were limited on Friday amid signs of tighter supplies.  ICE robusta inventories fell to a 3.25-month low of 4,127 lots on Friday.

On Tuesday, arabica rallied to a 7-week high as coffee farmers in Brazil are holding back supplies in hopes of higher prices, leading to tightness in the coffee cash market.
