Aug Nymex natural gas (NGQ20) on Thursday closed up +0.063 (+3.77%).
Nat-gas prices on Thursday rallied sharply on forecasts for hot U.S. temperatures to persist. Nat-gas prices extended their gains Thursday on a smaller-than-expected build in EIA weekly inventories.
The Commodity Weather Group on Thursday said that all three of its weather models show record heat for the upcoming 15-day period in the lower 48 states, which will boost power plant demand for nat-gas to run air-conditioning.
Nat-gas prices extended their gains Thursday after weekly EIA nat-gas inventories rose 65 bcf, below expectations of 75 bcf, but right on the 5-year average for this time of year.
Nat-gas export demand remains weak as BNEF reported that scheduled natural gas flows to LNG export plants on Thursday was 3.224 bcf/d, just above Wednesday's 3.200 bcf/d, which is down -45% y/y and at the lowest in 15 months.
