Nearby lean hog futures were $0.70 to $1.50 higher on the day. USDA’s National Average Afternoon Base Hog price for Wednesday was 2 cents weaker to $122.42. The CME Lean Hog Index for 7/11 was $112.57 after another 80 cent boost.
Pork cutout futures went home with $0.67 to $1.72 gains on the Wednesday session. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout Value for Wednesday afternoon was $118.28 after an 81 cent increase. USDA estimated the week’s FI hog slaughter at 1.344m head through Wednesday. That is down from 1.387m head during the same week last year.
