TORONTO - Canada's main stock index was up in late-morning trading, helped by strength in the technology and telecom sectors, while U.S. stock markets also rose.
The S&P/TSX composite index was up 81.25 points at 30,718.37.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 29.58 points at 46,282.89. The S&P 500 index was up 13.36 points at 6,684.42, while the Nasdaq composite was up 110.78 points at 22,780.86.
The Canadian dollar traded for 71.21 cents US compared with 71.20 cents US on Wednesday.
The December crude oil contract was up 22 cents US at US$58.06 per barrel.
The December gold contract was up US$81.60 at US$4,283.20 an ounce.
