ChargePoint (NYSE: CHPT) is turning its attention to Europe's company car segment with the launch of its new Flex Plus home EV charger. Tailored specifically for fleet vehicles, the Flex Plus charger is designed to make it easier for businesses and employees to manage and reimburse at-home charging, while also addressing the unique operational demands of the region's company car market, which accounts for 60 percent of new vehicle sales.
The new charger is being introduced alongside ChargePoint's Driver Management Solution, a software platform that not only automates home charging reimbursements but also streamlines public charging, VAT invoicing, and real-time fleet visibility. This solution allows fleet operators to set group rules, onboard drivers, and track usage through a centralized dashboard, reducing both administrative burden and operational complexity.
What sets the Flex Plus apart is its next-generation AC charging architecture, featuring real-time dynamic load management. This allows it to automatically boost charging speed when household energy use drops, avoiding the need for costly electrical upgrades. It also supports integration with solar panels, batteries, and other home energy systems, ensuring greater efficiency. Another innovation is the backplate mounting system, which enables the charger to be easily transferred when a driver relocates, turning what was once a fixed installation into a portable asset.
For drivers, this means the ability to charge overnight at home and hit the road fully powered by morning, with added convenience when public charging is needed. The Driver Management Solution app helps them locate, access, and pay for charging either via mobile or in-car systems. Deliveries of the Flex Plus are expected to begin later this summer.
