Live cattle are giving back35 to 57 cents in the front month futures through Friday’s midday. Confirmed cash trade was limited on Thursday from $141-$143 in the North. USDA reported cash sales at $136 in TX on Wednesday. Feeder cattle futures are trading 75 to 92 cents weaker. The CME Feeder Cattle Index for June 8 was $159.80, up by $1.12.
Wholesale Boxed Beef were mixed this morning with a 94 cent increase for Choice and an 18 cent decrease in Select. USDA estimated FI cattle slaughter as 503k head on Thursday. That is up from 481k head during the same week last year.
