Overnight cotton trading has the board at the highest prices since 2011, up 59 to 212 points. Spot futures took out the November high. Cotton futures continued posting fresh contract highs on Tuesday, as the front months rallied triple digits. March prices went home 138 points higher. New crop December futures were up 101 points at the bell, setting a new contract high at 97.95 cents.Â
The Seam reported 4,311 bales were sold on 1/17 for an average gross price of 111.03 cents. USDA’s 1/18 DSQ reported 19,204 bales of upland cotton and 1,100 bales of pima were sold at spot. The Cotlook A index for 1/17 was another 265 points stronger to 133.10 c/lb. The new AWP for cotton for the week is 105.58 cents/lb, up by 173 points.Â
