Cotton futures are trading 17 to 239 points lower across most contracts on Tuesday. The outside markets are adding pressure, with the dollar index up 28 points and crude oil down 75 cents.Â
Crop Progress data from NASS showed cotton planting advanced 7% points through the week to 22% finished by 5/7. The 5-yr average is to e 23% planted. In Georgia, NASS marked 13% of fields planted compared to 22% on average.Â
The Seam reported 6,963 bales were sold at spot on 5/5 for an average gross price of 77.94 cents/lb. The 5/5 Cotlook A Index was 3 cents stronger to 94.20 cents per pound. The AWP for cotton was 16 points higher to 66.69 cents/lb.Â
