Live cattle futures are trading with 22 to 42 cent gains so far. Feeders are up by $0.95 to $1.32 at midday. USDA confirmed 50k head of cash cattle trade on Thursday, with prices from $165 to $172. The bulk of TX sales were $165 - $167, while the bulk of NE business was $5-6 higher near $170. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was $192.35 on 3/29.
USDA reported Choice boxes were shown $1.04 lower for Choice and 56 cents weaker in Select. The week’s federally inspected slaughter was estimated at 505,000 head. That is up 3,000 from last week and 15,000 from the same week last year.
