VALCOURT - BRP Inc. is suspending its full-year financial guidance for its 2027 financial year due to changes to U.S. tariffs.
The maker of Ski-Doos and Sea-Doos says the changes to the Section 232 tariffs on steel, aluminum and copper imports to the U.S. took effect on April 6.
BRP says the tariff changes mainly lead to a 25 per cent tariff on the total value of imported snowmobiles and the majority of off-road vehicle models, replacing the previous 50 per cent tariff on applicable metal content only.
It estimates the potential incremental cost related to the changes to be more than $500 million for the remainder of the year, before any mitigation measures.
The company's 2027 financial year began on Feb. 1.
BRP president Denis Le Vot says, like many manufacturers, the company is operating in a highly volatile and unpredictable tariff environment that continues to create uncertainty across the market.
