Front month live cattle futures are down by triple digits through midday. October is $1 weaker so far. Feeders are another $2.45 to $2.95 lower through midday. Confirmed cash trades were mostly near $143 in the North ($230 dressed) and $141 in the South last week. The CME Feeder Cattle Index for 9/9 was 33 cents weaker to $180.91.Â
Wholesale Boxed Beef prices were stronger on Monday afternoon, with Choice up $1.68 to $258.94 and Select $1.03 firmer. USDA estimated Monday’s FI cattle slaughter at 125k head, compared to 113k head during the same week last year.Â
