Sims Metal Management Ltd was incorporated on 20 June 2005. It is engaged in the buying, processing and selling of ferrous and non-ferrous recycled metals. The Company provides environmentally responsible solutions for the disposal of post-consumer electronic products, including IT assets recycled for commercial customers. It operates through four business segments: - Ferrous secondary recycling, Non-ferrous secondary recycling, Recycling solutions and Secondary processing and other services. The Ferrous secondary recycling segment comprises the collection, processing and trading of iron and steel secondary raw materials. The Non-ferrous secondary recycling segment comprises the collection, processing and trading of other metal alloys and residues, such as aluminum, lead, copper, zinc and nickel bearing materials. The Recycling solutions segment provides environmentally responsible solutions for the disposal of post- consumer electronic products, including IT assets recycled for commercial customers. The Group offers fee-for service business opportunities in the environmentally responsible recycling of negative value materials, including refrigerators, electrical and electronic equipment. The secondary processing and other services segment comprises value-added processes involving the melting, refining and ingoting of certain non-ferrous metals and other sources of service based revenue. The Company operates in North America - comprising the United States of America and Canada; Australasia - comprising Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai and South Africa; and Europe - comprising United Kingdom, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria and Croatia. The business is currently subject to environmental regulation in each of the jurisdictions in which it operates.
