The Chip Card & Security segment designs, develops, manufactures and markets semiconductor-based security products for mobile payment applications and networked systems. The Company faces competition in each of its product lines. It competes with other international semiconductor companies, which are involved in research, development, manufacturing, marketing and distribution of their products. The Company is subject to various legal actions and claims, including intellectual property matters that arise in and outside the normal course of business. The Company's intellectual property rights include patents, copyrights, trade secrets, trademarks, utility models, designs and mask work rights.
