E. On SE was formed in June 2000. The Company is an integrated power and gas company. Its business activities include power generation from coal, natural gas & oil, nuclear, water, wind, solar and bio energy, gas supply and production, gas storage and transport and distribution. The Company operates following segments: Under Global Units: The Generation global unit, which consists of the Group's conventional (fossil and nuclear) generation assets in Europe. It manages and optimizes these assets across national boundaries. It operates nuclear power plants only in Germany and Sweden; Renewables, it consists of carbon sourcing and renewable businesses; Global Commodities global unit, which buys and sells electricity, natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), oil, coal, freight, biomass, and carbon allowances; Exploration & Production, this business segment is active in the focus regions North Sea (U.K., Norway), Russia and North Africa, Under Regional Units: the distribution and sales operations in Europe are managed by eleven regional units in total. Germany, UK, Sweden, Czechia and Hungary regional units are reported separately, power generation business in Russia is additionally reported as a special-focus region; Other regional units include the Italy, Spain, France, Netherlands, Slovakia and Romania units. The Company's operations are subject to environmental liabilities associated with power generation operations that could materially and adversely affect its business.
