DRDGold Ltd was incorporated on February 16, 1895, as Durban Roodepoort Deep Limited. The Company On December 3, 2004, the company changed its name from Durban Roodepoort Deep Limited to DRDGOLD Limited. Its operations have focused on South Africa's West Witwatersrand Basin, which has been a gold producing region for over 100 years. The Company is a South African gold mining company engaged in surface gold tailings retreatment including exploration, extraction, processing and smelting. Its main subsidiary is Ergo Mining Operations Proprietary Limited, or EMO, in which it holds a 74.0% interest. The Company's operating subsidiaries are Ergo is a surface retreatment operation and treats old slime and sand dumps to the south of Johannesburg's central business district as well as the east and central Rand goldfields. The operation comprises four plants. Brakpan and Knights continues to operate as metallurgical plants but Crown and City Deep have been converted to pump/milling stations, Corporate office and other reconciling items are taken into consideration in the strategic decision-making process of the CODM and are therefore included in the disclosure here, even though they do not earn revenue. They do not represent a separate segment and Blyvoor incorporates the Doornfontein mine, situated on the north-western edge of the Witwatersrand basin. The mine has underground and surface operations. Blyvoor was disposed of during the year ended June 30, 2012 and the segment therefore reflects the results of Blyvoor until the effective date of June 1, 2012.
