Cia Transmissao Energia Eletrica Paulista was established after a partial spin-off of Companhia Energética de São Paulo ("CESP") and started to operate on April 1, 1999. The Company, through its subsidiaries, operates as a private concessionaire for electricity transmission in Brazil. It is involved in the operation of transmission lines, reactors and transformers. The Company has a structure of 13,516 km of transmission lines, 18,893 km of circuits, 2,280 km of fiber optic cables and 107 substations with a voltage of up to 550 kV. The Company has operations in 16 Brazilian states , namely Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, EspÃrito Santo, Rondônia, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, Tocantins, Maranhão, PiauÃ, ParaÃba, Pernambuco and Alagoas. The Company operates as an electric power utility, engaged in the planning, construction and operation of power transmission systems, as well as in research & development programs in terms of power transmission and activities related to the available technology. Its activities are regulated and supervised by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL).
