BioFuel Energy Corporation was incorporated as a Delaware corporation in April 2006. It produces and sells ethanol and its co-products (primarily distillers grain), through its two ethanol production facilities located in Wood River, Nebraska and Fairmont, Minnesota. Its strategy is focused on optimizing production and streamlining operations with the goal of producing at or above nameplate capacity at the lowest cost per gallon. The Company is currently seeking to upgrade or replace certain systems at its facilities that it expect would enable it to operate at full capacity on a more reliable basis. The markets where its ethanol is sold are highly competitive.
