Bear Creek Mining Corp was incorporated under the British Columbia Company Act on August 31, 1999 under the name "4271 Investments Ltd." The Company is engaged in the acquisition, exploration and development of precious and base metal properties in Peru. It has operations in Peru, Canada and United States. Current efforts are focused on gold and silver exploration in Peru, although opportunities in other countries and other precious or base metal commodities have been and are also considered by the Company when compatible with management experience. The Company's principal exploration/development properties are currently the Corani silver-lead-zinc property (the "Corani Property" or "Corani Project") and the Santa Ana silver property (the "Santa Ana Property" or "Santa Ana Project") which is an advanced-stage development project, both located in Peru. Both projects have completed feasibility studies. The Company commenced its first exploration drilling on Corani in June 2005 and on Santa Ana in June 2006. However, the Santa Ana Property is subject to the 2011 Supreme Decree which rescinds the Company's rights to operate the mineral concessions comprising the Santa Ana Property. See "Mineral Projects - Santa Ana Property". The Company also competes with other mining companies in the recruitment and retention of qualified employees. The Company is subject to laws and regulations governing mineral claims acquisition, prospecting, development, mining, production, exports, taxes, labour standards, occupational health, waste disposal, toxic substances, land use, environmental protection, mine safety and other matters.
