Bayer AG is a life science company with core competencies in the areas of health care and agriculture. With the company's focus completely on the Life Science businesses, a new organizational structure was introduced effective Jan 1, 2016. Bayer Group now comprise exclusively of the Life Science businesses. The company started reporting in three segments ' Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Health and Crop Science ' from the third quarter of 2019. Both Animal Health and Currenta were reported as discontinued operations in the quarter. The company acquired U.S. seed giant Monsanto in June, 2018.
