
Front month lean hog futures ended the day with $0.20 to $1.80 losses as the summer months fell triple digits. USDA’s National Average Base Hog price for Tuesday PM was $112.58, up by $6.33. CME’s Lean Hog Index for 5/20 was 91 cents firmer to $102.08.
Pork cutout futures ended the trading session $0.50 to $1.22 lower. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout value at $108.24 this afternoon after a $1.19 bounce. USDA estimates Tuesday’s federally inspected hog slaughter at 473k head. After revising Monday lower, the WTD estimate is 937k, trailing 947k from last week and 961k from the same week last year.
