Cotton prices are another 3 cents higher through Wednesday’s midday, setting new LoC highs along the way. The front month cotton market hasn’t been priced above $1.20 since 2011. The new crop December continuation also hasn’t been this high during the month of January since 2011. The high in Jan ’11 was $1.15/lb for the new crop Dec contract.
The Seam reported 4,311 bales were sold on 1/17 for an average gross price of 111.03 cents. USDA’s 1/18 DSQ reported 19,204 bales of upland cotton and 1,100 bales of pima were sold at spot. The Cotlook A index for 1/18 stayed UNCH at 133.10 cents/lb. was another 265 points stronger to 133.10 c/lb. The new AWP for cotton for the week is 105.58 cents/lb, up by 173 points.
