Marvell Technology (MRVL) has spent the past decade establishing itself as a leader in data infrastructure semiconductors, building the chips that move, store, and process data inside the cloud infrastructure that runs modern AI.
Despite these operational strengths, MRVL stock experienced a sharp pullback over the last few months, significantly dropping from its 52-week high of $329.88¹ as market valuation concerns and a sector-wide chip cooldown drove the selloff rather than the business itself
Fundamentally, the business remains strong. Revenue hit a record $2.418 billion in Q1 fiscal 2027,² backed by a five-year agreement with Amazon to design custom AI chips, including Amazon's Trainium line, which investors previously feared was lost to a competitor.³
For traders who believe the stock has been oversold and will continue to rebound through Marvell's August 27 earnings report, the Direxion Daily MRVL Bull 2X ETF (MRVU) provides 200% of the daily performance of MRVL shares.
Three Reasons Traders Are Watching MRVL Stock
While MRVL has been capturing headlines for its share price volatility, traders are honing in on three key indicators:
Record Revenue and Raised Guidance Reflect Genuine AI Demand
Marvell reported Q1 fiscal 2027 net revenue of $2.418 billion, a 28% year-over-year increase and a new company record, with data center revenue representing 76% of total sales.² The company guided Q2 to $2.7 billion at the midpoint, representing 35% year-over-year growth, and raised its full-year and fiscal 2028 outlooks on the back of what CEO Matt Murphy described as exceptional AI-related bookings.²
Amazon Partnership Is Confirmed and the Custom Silicon Business Is Expanding Fast
Concerns that Marvell had lost Amazon's Trainium chip design work to a competitor have faded. A confirmed five-year agreement remains in place, and KeyBanc cited the Trainium 3 ramp and a potential Alphabet design win as reasons to maintain a $400 price target.³ Murphy has said the custom silicon business is on pace to more than double next year, with AI chip revenue on track to reach $10 billion by fiscal 2029.⁴
New AI Memory Products Target a Growing Bottleneck in Data Center Performance
As AI models scale, the memory systems supporting them are struggling to keep pace. Marvell announced a new product lineup in early August spanning the server, rack, and data center levels, designed to reduce GPU stalls caused by memory constraints and increase AI output within the same power budget.⁴ SVP Will Chu said the announcement reflects a shift in AI infrastructure toward systems where compute, memory, and connectivity operate as a unified layer rather than isolated components.⁴
What Wall Street Analysts Are Saying About MRVL
Marvell holds a consensus Strong Buy rating from 35 Wall Street analysts as of August 6, 2026.¹ The mean 12-month price target is $261.15, with the high target of $400 set by KeyBanc.¹ Not all analysts are aligned. Morgan Stanley maintained an Equal Weight rating with a $195 target, citing valuation concerns even after the July pullback.³
Trade MRVU With 2X Leverage
Traders now have a direct tool to trade MRVL's daily moves with leverage without managing margin requirements or multiple derivative positions.
- The Direxion Daily MRVL Bull 2X ETF (MRVU) targets 200% of the daily performance of MRVL. When MRVL rises 1%, MRVU targets a 2% gain before fees. When MRVL falls 1%, MRVU targets a 2% decline before fees.
The fund resets its leverage daily and is designed for active traders who monitor their positions.⁶
Will the Rebound Hold? Marvell's Earnings on August 27 Will Play a Key Role
With earnings scheduled for after the market close on August 27, the near-term setup for MRVL centers on whether Marvell can confirm its raised revenue outlook and provide visibility into its fiscal 2028 guidance, which analysts currently project at $16.73 billion in revenue.¹ Analysts expect Q2 non-GAAP diluted EPS of $0.65 and Q3 of $0.83.¹
The July selloff created a situation where the business continues to grow faster than the stock's current level implies, at least according to the majority of analysts covering the name. MRVU gives active traders a tool to express that view with daily 2X exposure.

Past performance is not indicative of future results.
Investing in the funds involves a high degree of risk. Unlike traditional ETFs, or even other leveraged and/or inverse ETFs, these leveraged and/or inverse single-stock ETFs track the price of a single stock rather than an index, eliminating the benefits of diversification. Leveraged and inverse ETFs pursue daily leveraged investment objectives, which means they are riskier than alternatives which do not use leverage. They seek daily goals and should not be expected to track the underlying stock’s performance over periods longer than one day. They are not suitable for all investors and should be utilized only by investors who understand leverage risk and who actively manage their investments. The Funds will lose money if the underlying stock’s performance is flat, and it is possible that the Bull Fund will lose money even if the underlying stock’s performance increases, and the Bear Fund will lose money even if the underlying stock’s performance decreases, over a period longer than a single day. Investing in the Funds is not equivalent to investing directly in MRVL.
