December soybean oil remains well supported after holding above 64 cents and forming a higher weekly high. Demand for soybean oil also remains strong. EIA data released last Friday showed soybean oil use in biofuel production increased 17.2% in May to 1.434 billion pounds, up from 1.224 billion pounds in April, which is a record high. The oilshare is 52.475% currently and can work its way towards 59%. If soybean oil can build on this upside momentum next week, a potential rally above the previous high at 74.55 is not unrealistic. China’s interest in US soybeans can add further support. Today’s Commitment of Traders report showed managed money long 80,000 contracts of soybean oil futures and options.
