BigBear.ai (BBAI) has completed testing and integration of its Pangiam(R) Threat Detection solution with Smiths Detection's HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX computed tomography screening systems, a move aimed at modernizing airport security worldwide. The integrated system enables real-time detection of prohibited items in luggage, enhancing efficiency and safety at aviation checkpoints as well as port and border facilities.
The technology, now being trialed at multiple international airports, supports an open architecture approach allowing operators to choose the tools best suited to their operational needs while quickly adapting to evolving threats. By combining Smiths Detection's advanced CT imaging with BigBear.ai's AI-driven analytics, the system is designed to speed passenger throughput without compromising security.
Originally developed under "Project Dartmouth," BigBear.ai's platform can integrate with a wide range of third-party scanning hardware and detection algorithms, positioning it as a flexible solution for security agencies and airport operators facing increasingly complex challenges.
